Produced from the mid 1930s, the GEC Muraphone is the wall version of the Gecophone. The 'Mur' part of the name is taken from the Latin word for wall.

It is arguably the most stylish of telephones with a strong Art Deco theme. The case is a complex moulding of curves combined with geometric forms. Originally designed for use on ships, 600 were ordered for R.M.S. Queen Elizabeth.
